A sewer camera inspection lets us see inside a drain or sewer line instead of guessing. A waterproof camera on a flexible cable is fed through a cleanout, and we watch the pipe on a monitor as it goes. It shows what is causing a backup, where the problem sits and how bad it is, without digging up the yard first.
Rapid Response Cesspool uses video camera equipment on jobs across Nassau and Suffolk County. For an active backup, call (631) 383-4797. We answer 24/7.

What a camera inspection can show
The camera helps us identify the cause of a problem rather than treating symptoms. Depending on the line, it can reveal:
- Tree roots growing into joints or cracks
- Cracked, broken or offset pipe sections
- Build-up of grease, scale or sludge
- Belly sections where the pipe has settled and holds water
- Foreign objects or debris stuck in the line
- The location of the problem along the run, so any repair can be targeted
When it is worth doing
An inspection is useful when drains back up repeatedly, when more than one fixture is slow, when you smell sewage with no obvious source, or when a line was cleared but the problem returns. Buyers of older homes also use camera inspections to check the sewer line before closing; see our cesspool and septic inspection page and the guide what a sewer camera inspection reveals.
You do not always need one. If a line clears and drains normally afterward, a camera may not be necessary.
How it works
We locate a cleanout or other access point, feed the camera through the line and review the footage with you. If the line only needs cleaning, we can go on to hydro jetting or sewer cleaning. If the pipe is damaged, we explain the options, which may include sewer line repair. You get a free estimate before scheduled work.
Where we work
We serve Bay Shore, Islip, Huntington, Brentwood, Hauppauge and towns throughout Suffolk and Nassau County.
Sewer Camera Inspection FAQ
What is a sewer camera inspection?
A waterproof camera on a flexible cable is passed through your drain or sewer line, and we watch live video of the pipe to find blockages, roots, cracks or other damage.
Do I need a camera inspection every time I have a clog?
No. A simple clog that clears and stays clear usually does not need one. A camera is most useful for repeat backups, unexplained odors or when pipe damage is suspected.
Can the camera tell me where the problem is?
Yes. The camera shows the condition of the pipe and where along the run an issue sits, which lets any repair be targeted rather than broad.
Is a sewer camera inspection useful when buying a home?
Many buyers of older Long Island homes ask for one so they know the condition of the sewer line before closing. Ask us about the report you need for your attorney or lender.
