Not every sewer problem is a clog. When a line has cracked, separated at a joint, sagged or been invaded by roots, cleaning only helps for a while. The fix is to find the damaged section and repair or replace it. Rapid Response Cesspool diagnoses the problem first, then explains the options so you only pay for work the line actually needs.

Signs a sewer line may need repair
- Backups or slow drains that return soon after cleaning
- Several fixtures draining slowly or gurgling at the same time
- Sewage odors in the house or yard with no clear source
- Wet, soft or unusually green patches in the lawn along the line
- Roots found in the line during cleaning
- A camera inspection that shows cracks, offsets or collapsed sections
How we approach a repair
First we confirm the cause. That usually means a camera inspection to find where the damage is, after the line has been cleared with hydro jetting or sewer cleaning if needed. Then we go over what we found, what the choices are and what each involves, and give you a free estimate before the work is scheduled.
Where a problem is tied to a cesspool or septic system, such as a broken pipe between the house and the tank, we also handle that side. See cesspool repair for the details.
Common causes on Long Island
Older homes here often have cast iron, clay or concrete lines that crack, corrode or shift with age. Mature trees near the house push roots into joints, and grease and debris build up in lines that are not cleaned. Heavy rain and a high water table can make a weak line fail sooner. Our guide to root intrusion in sewer lines covers the most common case.
Where we work
Towns we serve include Bay Shore, Babylon, Lindenhurst, Commack, Patchogue and Ronkonkoma, across Suffolk and Nassau County.
Sewer Line Repair FAQ
How do I know if I need a repair and not just a cleaning?
If a line is cleared and the problem keeps coming back, or a camera shows cracks, offsets or collapsed pipe, cleaning alone will not solve it and a repair is the next step.
How do you find the damaged section?
We usually run a video camera through the line, which shows the condition of the pipe and where along the run the damage is.
Will I get an estimate before work starts?
Yes. Scheduled work starts with a free estimate after we have diagnosed the problem, so you know the scope before anything is scheduled.
Can tree roots cause a sewer line to need repair?
Yes. Roots can crack pipe and push joints apart. Clearing the roots helps in the short term, but if the pipe is damaged it may need repair. See our sewer root removal page.
Do you repair the line between my house and my cesspool?
Yes, pipe breaks between the house and the cesspool or tank are part of our cesspool and septic repair work.
